Live long, live strong, and live happy!
Ok, Great Gifts blog is currently on a bit of a health mission. There have been a few posts about healthy living recently, and here is another one. This blog is a bit different though, because this is probably the most important one that has been written.
Top 5 Daily Habits that will transform and rejuvenate you
Eat five small meals a day.
In the Western culture, meals are taken three times a day, but it is much better to eat five smaller meals. When you eat smaller portions five times a day, you deliver a steady stream of nutrients, blood sugar, and energy to your body throughout the day. Additionally, eating this way is less taxing on the digestive and metabolic systems and also reduces your risk of heart disease.
Climb the stairs.
The health benefits of a daily exercise program cannot be stressed enough. Regular exercise can help promote physiological well-being, strengthen the immune system, maintain joint mobility, increase energy - the list goes on.
Laugh it up!
We know from research that laughter and joy boost immune functions, especially the production of the natural killer cells that help protect the body from illness and cancer. Laughter also increases the release of endorphins, compounds that give you a sense of well-being, in your brain. Without a doubt, joyful people live longer and healthier lives.
Drink 8 glasses of water every day.
Water is essential for all healthy body functions. Centenarians from around the globe cite their native water as the source of their health and longevity - and the scientists agree with them. What they all have in common is pure water sources located far from any city, free from chemicals and toxins.
Unwind and Relax.
Stress is the root cause of most of the diseases that shorten our life span. In our modern society stress will continue to increase - unless you find techniques to manage it. Meditation is the best way to release tension and revitalize your being. It teaches you to breath properly, which is critical for eliminating up to 70% of your body's toxins and wastes. It also quiets your mind, lowers your stress hormones, and teaches self-discipline, which is a necessary attribute to achieving your health and longevity goals.
Look after your health, with information, tools, online analysis and products to create a healthier lifestyle.

Man Utd win the Premier League title
Update: Manchester United (Man Utd) have won the English Premier League title.
Manchester United retained the Premier League title on Sunday when they won 2-0 at Wigan Athletic with a first-half Cristiano Ronaldo penalty and a goal by substitute Ryan Giggs.
United ended the season on 87 points, two clear of Chelsea, who drew 1-1 at home with Bolton Wanderers after an injury-time Matt Taylor goal for the visitors cancelled out a scrappy effort by halftime substitute Andriy Shevchenko.
It was United's 10th Premier League title and 17th championship in all and they will now go for a double when they face Chelsea in the Champions League final on May 21.
At the Manchester United Shop you will find all your Man Utd goodies.

Make Your Skin Glow
1. Top skin creams. Hundreds of gorgeous, innovative, sweet-smelling products that do exactly what they claim to do. Many products here are organic, fair trade and environmentally friendly, for people who care not only for themselves but also the planet.
2. Vitamins. The correct amount of Vitamins is essential for good health. In fact, the antioxidants alone (Vitamin C & E or beta carotene) can make your RealAge up to 6 years younger! You must eat to make your Skin Glow. So load your shopping cart with nutrients that research has shown to have skin-hydrating, sun-protecting, and even wrinkle-preventing powers.
3. Green Tea. While all true teas contain EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), the various types of green tea have the most. Gives your skin a healthy dose of EGCG, which is a great multi-tasker. EGCG puts a damper on inflammatory chemicals involved in acne and sun-related skin aging; it also helps prevent skin cancer; and it has a lion-tamer effect on tumor cells. What’s more, green tea contains L-theanine, a de-tensing amino acid and anything you can do to staunch the flow of the stress hormone cortisol helps keep collagen fibers intact.
4. Fish. Give your skin a double benefit: age-fighting omega-3 fatty acids plus the restorative powers of protein. Omega-3s fight inflammation, now considered one of the top skin-agers, and they also help protect against sunburn, enhancing the effects of your SPF sunscreen. Protein is required to build and repair skin cells and to make enzymes and hormones that help keep it glowing.

Gardening DIY Safety Tips
Top Garden Safety Tips
# Always pay attention when using garden equipment, especially if it is electrical. Make sure cables trial behind the equipment, never cut towards a flex or use in the rain or wet conditions and always use an RCD with any electrical garden appliance.
# Never clean, lift, adjust or even check electrical garden tools while they are still connected to a power supply. Always switch off and unplug first. Only clear grass from a power mower once it is switched off and the spark plug cap has been removed.
# Don't clean electrical garden equipment with water - switch off first, unplug and then wipe it with a cloth.
# Always protect your feet by wearing strong shoes or boots. Hover mowers and trimmers can easily drift and injure a foot.
# If you have materials such as asbestos and lead in your garden, seek advice about handling it from your local authority or call in a professional.
# Be aware of uneven paving, slippery paths and broken concrete - they can cause accidents.
Do you have a problem with storage space? Is your garden cluttered with tools and kids toys? Is the loft full of old junk? Do you wish you could get your car into the garage?
A shed is perfect for somewhere to store all your garden tools, childrens toys and general clutter, or even to escape!
We offer a comprehensive range of quality garden & storage sheds in every size and style, timber, metal, steel or maintenance-free PVC.
We have a huge selection of quality Garden Sheds, Furniture, Conservatories, Greenhouses, Garden Tools and much more.

1. Set yourself achievable goals - don't set out for a weight loss of more than 2lbs
per week. This is healthy and sustainable.

What are you eating too much of? When are you most likely to overeat? This
knowledge will give you the power to take responsibility and make the
necessary changes to your diet.
3. Exercise portion control. Eat smaller portions of food and eat more slowly, enjoying the taste and flavour. Stop eating when you feel full and leave food on the plate.
4. Get physical. Be as active as possible in your day-to-day life. Walk whenever you can, wash your car, spring clean the house, forget the remote control! Plan to do specific exercise sessions with friends 3 times per week.

Diana Inquest and Shop
The inquest into Diana's death is now over.
It had heard evidence from 278 witnesses over 94 days at a cost estimated at millions. The foreman announced the majority verdict, agreed by nine of the 11 jurors - that the deaths were caused by a reckless drink-driving chauffeur, pursuing paparazzi and not wearing seatbelts.
She said: "The verdict is unlawful killing, grossly negligent driving of the following vehicles and of the Mercedes. The crash was caused or contributed to by the driving of the Mercedes, the driving of the following vehicles, the impairment of judgment of the driver of the Mercedes through alcohol and there are nine of us who agree on that. In addition, the death was caused or contributed to by the fact that the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt and we are unanimously agreed on that."
Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry, later issued a statement saying: "We should like to thank the jury for the thorough way in which they have considered the evidence. We agree with their verdicts and are grateful for the forbearance they have shown in accepting such disruption to their lives over the past six months."
Diana Frances Spencer (1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997) was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. Their sons, Princes William and Henry (Harry), are second and third in line to the thrones of the United Kingdom and fifteen other Commonwealth Realms.
A public figure from the announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles, Diana remained the focus of constant media scrutiny around the world up to and during her marriage, and after her subsequent divorce. Her sudden death in a car accident was followed by a spontaneous and prolonged show of public mourning.
Celebrate the life of HRH, Princess Diana of Wales as well as to honour and remember her always - England's Rose, The People's Princess, Our Queen of Hearts, and the Beauty of Britain.

Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a saints day commemorating Saint Valentine on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, gifts and flowers.
The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines." Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline and the figure of the winged Cupid. The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. The association estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.
Valentine's Day also has regional traditions in England. In Norfolk a character called 'Jack' Valentine knocks on the rear door of houses leaving sweets and presents for children. Although he was leaving treats, many children were scared of this mystical person.
In Wales (UK) many people celebrate Dydd Santes Dwynwen (St Dwynwen's Day) on 25 January instead of or as well as St Valentine's Day. The day commemorates St Dwynwen, the patron saint of Welsh lovers.
In France, a traditionally Catholic country, Valentine's Day is known simply as "Saint Valentin", and is celebrated in much the same way as other western countries.
In Denmark & Norway Valentine's Day is known as Valentinsdag. It is not celebrated to a large extent, but a lot people take time to eat a romantic dinner with their partner, to send a card to a secret love or give a red rose to their loved one. In Sweden it is called Alla hjärtans dag ("All Hearts' Day") and was launched in the 1960s by the flower industry's commercial interests, and due to influence of American culture. It is not an official holiday, but its celebration is recognized and sales of cosmetics and flowers for this holiday are only bested by those for Mother's Day.
In Finland, Valentine's Day is called Ystävänpäivä which translates into "Friend's day". As the name says, this day is more about remembering your friends than your loved ones.
In Slovenia, a proverb says that "St Valentine brings the keys of roots," so on February 14, plants and flowers start to grow. Valentine's Day has been celebrated as the day when the first works in the vineyards and on the fields commence. It is also said that birds propose to each other or marry on that day. Nevertheless, it has only recently been celebrated as the day of love.
In Romania, the traditional holiday for lovers is Dragobete, which is celebrated on February 24. It is named after a character from Romanian folklore who was supposed to be the son of Baba Dochia. Part of his name is the word drag ("dear"), which can also be found in the word dragoste ("love").
In Turkey, Valentine's Day is called Sevgililer Günü which translates into "Sweethearts' Day".

Global Warming and Eco Friendly Shop
Global Warming is the global average surface temperature resulting from enhancement of the greenhouse effect, primarily by air pollution. In 2007 the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change forecasted that by 2100 global average surface temperatures would increase 3.2 – 7.2 °F (1.8 – 4.0 °C), depending on a range of scenarios for greenhouse gas emissions, and stated that it was now 90 percent certain that most of the warming observed over the previous half century could be attributed to greenhouse gas emissions produced by human activities (i.e., industrial processes and transportation).
Many scientists predict that such an increase in temperature would cause polar ice caps and mountain glaciers to melt rapidly, significantly raising the levels of coastal waters, and would produce new patterns and extremes of drought and rainfall, seriously disrupting food production in certain regions.
Learn more about the science and dangers of global warming at the Global Warming Shop.
