This week the B.B.C celebrates 40 years since the start of the hit show Dad's Army.
Dad's Army was a British sitcom about the Home Guard in the Second World War. It was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft and broadcast on BBC television between 1968 and 1977. The series ran for 80 episodes in total, plus a radio series, a feature film and a stage show. The series regularly gained audiences of 18 million viewers during the 1970s and is still repeated today.

M*A*S*H The 4077th
For anyone who doesn't know, M*A*S*H is the show that lasted nearly four times as long as the war it was about (the Korean war), as well as one of the few cases in which a critically acclaimed film was successfully adapted into a critically acclaimed television series, the military comedy drama M*A*S*H ran for 11 seasons, ending with one of the most watched events in the history of the medium.
The show followed a team of doctors and support staff stationed at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Uijeongbu, South Korea.
