The Leica lens makes a massive difference in photo quality even when used at the lower pixel levels. The LCD screen is "crystal sharp" in both photo and playback modes. Bigest difference however is in the simplicity and quality of video recording. The quality of HD videos when played back through a HD TV is fantantastic and worth the extra cost in itself.
I also suggest you purchase the dedicated TZ7 camera case to protect this little gem of a camera.
